You Got Far Enough

Just heard 'Summer of '69' blaring through Duane Reade's drug store-quality sound system...this caught my ears:

"Me and some guys from school
Had a Band and we tried real hard
Jimmy quit and Jody got married
I shoulda known we'd never get far
Oh when I lock back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Ya - I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life"

Maybe, Bryan, those were in fact the best days of your life. However, I'm willing to bet Jimmy and Jody wished they had stuck it out at least through '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You', you know, for the cash flow.

That's funny.

Amazingly, at least one of them did stick around according to the wiki page for the song...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summer_of_%2769

In the line "Jimmy quit, Jody got married", "Jody" refers to Jody Perpick who still works for Adams today as his Tour Manager & Sound Engineer. "Jimmy" refers to drummer Jim Wesley who worked for Adams in his club gigging days (1980-1981), who quit the band to go and sell carpets because there was no money to be made as a musician back then.

Wiki is ridiculous.

It really is. We also find out on that page that Summer of '69 was voted as the top driving song of all-time in Canada. Whatever that means.

Also, on his main page...we learn he's an Arsenal fan.
